The High Court handed down sentences of 11 months (immediate imprisonment) and 3 months (suspended imprisonment) this week against two contemnors. Paul McGrath acted for UK Insurance Ltd in the contempt applications arising from an induced road traffic accident. The contempts were wider than typically seen in such cases and including conspiracy to produce false evidence. The judgment at the permission stage was widely reported because it dealt with a number of complex issues and the judgment at the final hearing (heard on Monday 11 November) will be reported soon.

Paul was instructed by Andrew Burkitt, of Keoghs LLP.
